Please don’t judge all “popular” artists so quickly, because most will do you the same courtesy. 

Most artists achieve a lot of this without trying - they’re just genuinely interested in other artists and their work. (Of course, being serious about advertising/marketing/etc helps too, but that’s not so much about ‘popularity’ and more about getting your product out to your target audience).

However.

If you’re so selfish that you hadn’t even considered that other artist’s work might be interesting, then don’t worry! Just start spamming, pestering and creating drama and then you too can still have the magical, life-affirming and life-changing experience of being ~*POPULAR*~

I love Gemma, really, but it’s so ridiculous when she gets huffy because someone point’s out a slight flaw, in a polite manner. I’m a mediocre artist at best and I really aspire to be as good better than her some day. I never receive any criticism on my work- constructive or not- but when I see her reactions to what I crave so badly, I feel myself become angry.

So far I’ve never given in to that feeling since I’m afraid of being called out for it. I just hate being this indecisive over my art and that irrational need to have many people look at my art and like what I made since my self-worth shouldn’t depend on it. ._.
