submitted by -Anonymous I know I shouldn’t rely heavily on other people’s opinions to validate my work, but I can’t help but feel happy about it sometimes. The background is a screenshot from someone’s favorite list.
-submitted by Anonymous If you can’t read it, it’s a screenshot of a journal entry on my dA page (You can’t comment on my page without absolutely seeing it) and it says dont thank me for the llama/watch/fave. And below it is a screenshot of my comments, where people have completely disregarded the journal. I don’t want to be “that guy”, and jump down peoples’ throats for it, so I just respond politely and hope other people respect my wishes. But why can’t people just NOT thank me for the whatever? It annoys me so much. Just…to anyone about to thank someone for the ___, look at their page and see if they don’t want you to. Because on more than one occasion I’ve gotten so annoyed I just wanted to block the people, which is silly. :/ I blocked out the names but the screenshots are from my dA page. submitted by -Anonymous
I’ve been on dA for almost 5 years and I still don’t know how to use the site. Well more like I’ve been posting stuff since december 2012 but I have no idea on how to submit to group, the forum confuses me etc… It kind of bugs me because I have no clue on how to promote myself and I keep giving reasons to myself not to do anything about that… I’d be glad to recieve any kind of advice about the site system tho !
Image from deviantart newest submissions. -submitted by Anonymous Over the years of being on DA, I’ve noticed it can be an artist-eat-artist world. It seems as though OCs are always marry sue and that the very mention of them causes negative uproar. It’s not that I dislike DA, more so that it seems like a more suitable place for fan art. I remember when I first joined tumblr, I was overwhelmed how welcoming everyone was, and that perhaps art wasn’t about favorites and comments, but experiencing new things and making new friends. And now-after a year on tumblr- I can finally say I have a few, very near and dear to my heart, OCs. (The picture isn’t my OC, but a very nice one of Zillya’s by me here) -submitted by made-of-miracles screencap was grabbed from a comment thread on an anatomy tutorial that popped up in my messages. submitted by -Anonymous I myself still don’t get a lot of commissions, very few really, but that’s better than nothing! I’ve learned many ways to help get commissions on my own and I’ll willing to help anyone that needs. Here are some more: 1) IMPROVE!!!! It that’s not been up here enough. 2) Do art trades and collabs, people in the project forums are always looking for art trades and collabs! 3) If someone is taking requests, ask for one, it doesn’t even matter if their better than you or not. 4) Do request LS/join.me/usteam steams! It’s really fun c: 5) Draw fan art, no a lot, just sometimes. Lots of people on dA and tumblr look for pictures of their favorite characters, so people will be more likely to see your art. 6) Talk to people! If you very reply to people on dA, or comment on other people’s artwork, people will find you rude, which will turn them off. 7) Just be yourself. Draw what you want, chat with friends, play games, etc. If you can be yourself and an artist, then you shouldn’t be trying to get commissions. 8) Make adoptables! Not a commission, but you still get paid. Like I said, have any questions just ask me. I took my time out to type/write this for you, so please don’t be rude back to me for helping you. art by/submitted by -allanwolf Links to the conversation, I couldn’t figure out how to submit them in a photo: I was browsing the hiring section of the DA forums and came across this thread. The hiring person, orange, had a list of what they needed for the artist to do, and one of the things was that they like to see the work livestreamed. Purple, orange, and pink com into the scene very aggressively attacking the client! Yellow comes in to try to help, but pink ends up attacking them as well. If this is how artists behave on deviantart now-a-days, now I know why we don’t see many professionals there. It’s because there aren’t any! (or very few!) submitted by -Anonymous |
