People are going to have opinions of you. When you become popular, when you put your art out for people to see, you sign an invisible contract stating your acceptance of the fact that you could get critiqued and flamed and bashed for what and how you draw. Just like in the real world, you can NOT expect everyone to like what you do or to stay quiet about it. Do I think Snooki, the Lohans or their like deserve to be as popular as they are in the media? Absolutely fucking not. I think someone needs to bash them over the head with a wrench until they start to understand how much they suck at life and how much of a bad influence they are. I dislike them simply for who they are (or how they’re portrayed), and I will not stay quiet about it for fear of hurting their feelings. Why? Because I don’t have to. They probably don’t expect me to, either. They have their fair share of fans. This is how it is and how it always will be for internet artists. You will ocasionally get a rude bitch who flames you for now reason, but you have to walk it off. People wont like you, and they will be vocal about it. There is NOTHING wrong with them coming onto this blog and complaining about how you don’t deserve your popularity. Who cares what they think? You’re popular. Doesn’t matter. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to take some of the backhand advice given on this blog to heart and try to improve in your weak areas, but in the long run, it probably wont matter. Don’t take it personally. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Simple as that. You can’t form an unrealistic expectation that everyone should just be a courteous ass-kisser. And that goes for those who submit confessions here about how people are so whiney and bitchy and submitting does nothing to help the situation. Complaining feels good, and we don’t post here just to hurt an artist’s feelings. We do it so that maybe they will see it and improve, and, if not, we can find solace in others who agree with us. Arguments are welcome. I love a good internet argument almost as much as I love bashing artists behind their backs and then giving curteous critiques to the best of my abilities when I can. Thank you, Artists-Confessions. submitted by -caper-cranes -submitted by platypuspancakes I love Gemma, really, but it’s so ridiculous when she gets huffy because someone point’s out a slight flaw, in a polite manner. I’m a mediocre artist at best and I really aspire to be art(c)fluro-knife
I picked up this tip from very successful artists in the animation industry, and now it’s a mantra I tell myself everyday. submitted by -e1n |
